Gotham Knights has been officially announced!

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

After a bunch of teasers, it looks like Gotham Knights has been officially announced. This game is going to change things up quite a bit, because it's a Batman game without Batman in it. Bruce Wayne is dead and you will need to take control of one of four different superheroes. There's Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Nightwing who are looking to take the place of the BAT!

One big change to the game is that it's more RPG based, and you will level up your characters and enemies you encounter will have levels as well. This is similar to something like the new Assassin Creed games, but it's unclear if certain areas are locked by increased power enemies or not. The flow combat that you are accustomed to in the Batman Arkham series is still there in some form, but your hits will dish out damage instead of a certain amount of them taking out particular enemies.

Here's the official trailer for the game. We learn of Bruce Wayne's demise, and take a look at the new characters we will get to pilot as we head into the game. There's some brief gameplay footage, but this video is more about setting the tone and relaying a part of the story.

If you're curious what gameplay will look like then you can check out this next video. We learn that the game technically has multiplayer, which is 2 player co-op, where you can play through the entire story with a friend. You can also play it solo if you prefer to take out your enemies alone. We also get a brief look at the RPG levels and how the combat will look. There's even a brief look at a boss fight against Mr. Freeze!
