There are 11 weapons available for use in New World, and you can mix and match them at any time, thanks to the game's classless system. However, when paired together, some weapons have insane synergy and stand a tier above the rest. Take a look at the best weapon combinations in New World.

Sword and War Hammer

Players who want to be a beefy tank should consider using the sword and war hammer. These weapons can provide a massive amount of survivability, particularly in the sword's defender mastery tree with abilities like Defiant Stance.

Each weapon also offers several crowd control options, which can keep enemies locked down at you smash them with your weapons. Since both weapons scale with strength, you can split your points between that and constitution to ensure you've got enough life to survive enemy attacks. If you want to change things or don't like using the war hammer, consider using the great axe instead.

Fire Staff and Ice Gauntlet

If you want to be a wizard in New World, your best bet is using the fire staff and ice gauntlet. These weapons scale with intelligence, so you won't find one weaker than the other due to your character's stats. This weapon combo shines when it comes to AOE damage and control.

You can slow and root enemies with skills like Ice Storm and Ice Shower and then burn them to death with skills like Meteor Shower and Fireball. 

Life Staff and Ice Gauntlet

Those who want to heal must use the Life Staff. This weapon offers several skills to heal and buff your allies, and it pairs best with the Ice Gauntlet.

Like the wizard build mentioned above, the Ice Gauntlet offers lots of crowd control to keep enemies away and is one of the best abilities for a healer in Entombed. This ability makes you invulnerable for a time and greatly increases mana regeneration. This can protect you in dangerous situations and ensure you have the mana to keep your allies up and running.

Rapier and Musket

For those who want a quick PVP build that can evade enemies and attack them at range, try the Rapier and Musket combination. Both scale with dexterity, so their damage will grow in tandem as you level up.

If you want to dance around other players, be sure to invest in the rapier's Grace skill tree, which offers abilities like Evade, which provides momentary invulnerability, and Fleche, which allows you to reposition yourself while dealing damage quickly. The Musket can do heavy damage to enemies approaching or escaping, and because it is hitscan, you can more reliably damage enemies than with alternatives like the bow. 

Hatchet and Great Axe

If you want to get in an enemy's face and do a lot of damage, consider the hatchet and great axe. The hatchet offers the powerful Berserk skill, which, when upgraded, gives you more speed, healing, and frees you from crowd control effects. You can down enemies very quickly when this skill is active and give yourself immense survivability at the same time.

The Great Axe gives you lots of damage and shines in AOE with skills like Gravity Well and Whirlwind. Don't sleep on Charge either. This ability can get you up close to your enemy and enable the rest of your kit.
