New World Logging Leveling Guide

Here's what you need to know about how to level the logging skill in New World.

To level up the wood chopping or the logging trade skill in New World, players will need to chop down young trees in large numbers until they hit level 50 in the skill. At level 50, players will unlock the ability to chop down mature trees.

Also, mature trees give far more XP than young trees. Because of this, mature trees should be prioritized to be chopped before young trees to gain the most XP possible.

Chopping trees down in a heavily forested area is also a good idea to make the most of a wood chopping farming run. Areas in the swamp near Cutlass Keys also have many Mature trees in one area, so it could be a good place to start if you are around 20 to 35 in character level.

However, just chopping trees down won't be nearly enough to get you to high levels in logging. You will also need the right tools. You will need to work your way up the tool ladder and eventually get steel starting with flint. After reaching steel tools, you should be good for a while until you level up.

If you want to know how to get steel, you can figure out in our guide how to make and use steel. But in short, you need level 50 smithing and have iron ingots. You can then use these steel iron ingots to make a steel lumber axe that usually has high gather rates.

Along with this, if you add azoth to them, you can get decent perks like one that increases the XP gain for your lumber skill. Overall it's ideal to try and get the experience perk by putting the most azoth in your tool when crafting. Beyond perks, putting points into the constitution attribute would be your other best bet to help you raise and level up wood chopping in New World.

As explained in our attribute guide, high levels of constitution gives bonuses to health and wood chopping speeds and logging yields.

Because of that, we highly recommend temporarily respecing just to put all your points or a good chuck to get some of these buffs from the constitution. You can find the full list of all the perks and buffs that you can gain from the constitution attribute listed below.
