Download your games safely.

Itch.io is a hosting website that allows game developers of all kinds to upload their content for fans to enjoy. Developers can upload their games to the platform, which the website's moderators then scan for viruses and other malware. Like many other websites, moderators can't catch every single thing that is uploaded to the website. So, it's important to exercise caution when downloading anything from itch.io, similar to downloading anything from any other website.

Is Itch.io safe? Everything you should know

Long story short, yes, itch.io is a safe website to download your games and game content. The website has been home to many different promotions and sales over the years that have attributed to revenue for independent developers and fundraisers alike.

One of these fundraisers gave out almost 1,000 games for $10 as part of the Bundle for Ukraine.

Of course, the company can't keep track of every line of code uploaded to the site, but they do a great job at keeping track of everything. They also provide a reasonable return policy if you feel that you have been cheated and want your money back.
