Generally, there are overlapping views on certain characters despite the differences in opinion. Cassidy

I've been seeing a lot of Cassidy players in Overwatch 2 lately, for good reason. His Magnetic Grenade is great for dealing with slippery enemies like Tracer and Kiriko. At the same time, his primary fire deals decent damage to both nearby and far-away enemies.

Kiriko

Kiriko has been one of the top-tier support picks since her introduction to the game. Her kunai can deal up to 120 damage after hitting a headshot, making her do damage equal to a DPS. At the same time, she has great healing abilities and a cleanse ability that makes some hero kits useless against her. As long as she is alive and utilizes her kit well, she'll lead her team to victory.

Lucio

Like Kiriko, Lucio has been a top support player for multiple seasons. If you have the skills to play him, you can keep your team up. His wall-riding skills will help you reach teammates and enemies wherever they are. Additionally, his boop knocks back opponents for 45 damage while stunning them for 0.5 seconds, which is perfect for knocking enemies off of maps or just away from your team. All in all, he's a support player who can heal well and take out members of the enemy team.

Sojourn

Sojourn has been consistently good since her release, remaining a top DPS pick in Season 10. If you want to do well with her, you will need good aim. Her danger is partially due to her charged railgun shots, which can take out squishy enemies in one headshot.

Ashe

Ashe is a force to be reckoned with in the right hands. Hitting headshots as her will do plenty of damage while igniting enemies with her dynamite will set them on a slowly burning path to defeat. Her ultimate, Bob, is great for clearing space, taking out low-health enemies during a fight, and even contesting a payload or push bot.

Baptiste

Baptist has a kit that allows him to pump heals directly into one ally or give heals to a group of teammates over time. His immortality field is an important utility item that can save teammates on the verge of death. It does take skill to use his immortality field and ultimate properly, but it’s knowledge that can be learned by gaining experience playing as him.

Echo

Echo’s movement and ability to capitalize on low-health targets make her a great DPS hero to choose this season. Her flight ability lets her maneuver around any map easily. The most important part of her kit is her beam, which does extra damage to enemies with low health. Let your teammates knock enemies' health down and swoop in to take them out for good.

Mauga

The end of Orisa's reign allows Mauga to shine. His primary fire ignites enemies while his secondary deals extra damage to enemies on fire, making him a great tank to pair with Ashe. His ultimate draws enemies into a locked arena, making the perfect foundation for an ultimate combo with one of your other teammates.

Moira

Moira's healing and damage outputs make her a menace to fight against in Season 10. She is most dangerous in lower-ranked Overwatch games, but can still do some damage in the higher ranks. Her fade ability and increased self-healing greatly increase her survivability. This means more heals throughout the fight and a quicker build-up to her ultimate. Some Moira players will focus on dealing damage too much, but a good Moira player will strike a fine balance between healing and destroying enemies.

Orisa

Orisa has reigned as the only S-Tier tank for a few seasons. As of April 30, 2024, however, her Fortify and Javelin Spin have been nerfed enough to drop her down to an A-tier ranking. She is still a force to be reckoned with, but she is no longer the best tank in the game.

Ramattra

Ramattra is a Predator-looking tank that deals the most damage from a short distance. His Void Barrier can be very powerful when dealing with multiple enemies, making him tough to beat. If you're fighting up close and personal, you'll want him on your side.

Roadhog

Roadhog has slowly been rising up the tiers to reach A-Rank. His hook and headshot combo can wipe out squishy players in one fell swoop. Additionally, his self-heal capabilities remove some of the pressure off of his supports. This frees them up to deal more damage, heal other teammates, and support their team in various other ways.

Tracer

Tracer is one of the best flanking heroes in Season 10 of Overwatch 2. Her talent lies in using her abilities to slide into the enemy's backline, take out a squishy hero, and retreat before the enemy can retaliate. This is especially true since the April 30th patch, where Blizzard increased the passive healing reduction DPS players apply to those they shoot to 20%.

Venture

Venture has been a strong DPS pick since they were brought into the game at the beginning of Season 10. While I initially planned to place them in S-Tier, the slight nerf they received on April 30th has made their home in the A-Tier. Their ability to dive beneath the ground gives them both good maneuverability and an easy way to escape enemy ultimates. Additionally, their ultimate can easily wipe out an entire team if they have the opportunity.

Winston

With the prevalence of backline heroes like Cassidy, Ashe, and Zen, Winston is in a good spot this season. Using his ult and Jump Pack, he can eliminate backline heroes before they get anything done. The combination of a Winston and Echo dive accompanied by the long-distance shots of a hitscan is incredibly deadly this season.

Zarya

Zarya was incredibly popular in the first Overwatch, and it doesn't look like that's changing. The popularity of Kiriko and her abilities only means she and her team get more out of the bubble she provides. As a bonus, her ultimate is the best for gathering enemies in one spot so that teammates can use their own ults on the entire enemy team.

Zenyatta

Due to the high-speed rounds of Overwatch 2, Zenyatta is an easy pick for Sojourn and Widowmaker to snipe. Zen really needs to be in a team comp that will allow him to stay safe. This will allow him to heal allies and discord enemies to take them out even faster. His discord is preferred over Mercy's damage boost because it will allow anyone on the team to take out an enemy rather than only boosting one player. You'll need to discord wisely and communicate well to get the most out of playing Zen.

B tier Characters in Overwatch 2 (Season 10)

Ana

Ana's kit is decent, but it is often countered by Kiriko's cleanse. Her kit is the most useful for putting ulting enemies to sleep and using her nade to buff the healing your team receives. If you can take advantage of her kit and work around Kiriko's cleanse, you'll be able to get good value out of Ana.

Bastion

Bastion is a shield-breaker that goes heavy on the DPS side. With the right team support, they can become the equivalent of half tank and half DPS hero. Get a Mercy pocket or fire at Discorded enemies to take them out before they can fight back.

Brigitte

Brigitte is a unique support character because she combines the healing abilities of supports, a small shield like a tank, and a crowd control ability. This allows her to block some damage while dealing some of her own and healing her teammates. She's a good support, but more of a situational pick in Season 10.

D.Va

D.Va is a tank with invaluable utility. Her Defense Matrix can absorb even strong enemy ults like Barrage, Molten Core, and Blizzard. She also has the potential to carry the team with kills by diving the enemy team herself.

Genji

While Genji is not a top pick this season, he is still a bane to backline heroes like Ana and Widow. Unfortunately, he can easily be countered by Echo and Moira, leaving him not a lot of room to breathe.

Illari

Illari is a good support, but she requires players to have good spatial awareness in order to place her Healing Pylons properly. A good Illari player will place their Pylons in places easily accessible by both themselves and their team. If you're able to do so and aren't afraid to use your primary fire to take out enemies, you'll get a lot of value out of her.

Junker Queen

Junker Queen was a popular tank pick when she came out during Overwatch 2’s official release. She is somewhat of a bulky DPS as she’s mostly made for dealing damage, making her less useful for team compositions that require a shield.

Lifeweaver

Lifeweaver is a support hero specializing in healing and getting allies out of trouble with his Life Grip ability. His primary assignment is to move swiftly and heal, but he also has a solid Thorn Volley attack. His “Tree of Life” ultimate was buffed in the Season 10 patch, making his healing even more solid in tumultuous times.

Pharah

With Season 10 having a lot of hitscan players, Pharah seems like an unlikely choice for a DPS hero. However, she is actually able to do a decent bit of damage against even hitscan enemies. Her horizontal flight movement helps push her out of the way of enemy fire, while her Concussive Blasts knock hitscan heroes off of high ground while damaging them. Just be mindful to not fly too high in an open area.

Reinhardt

Reinhardt will rarely be a bad hero. With his huge shield and hammer, he exemplifies everything a good Tank should do. Use the shield to block your team from hooks and gunfire, then charge in and wreck through the enemy team with your hammer.

Sigma

While Sigma is a great hero in his own right, you'll need to keep in mind how much damage he can mitigate in one fight. His Barrier and Kinetic Grasp skills can block firepower and ultimates directed at your team. If you need to stop an ulting Cassidy or Moira, simply toss a rock at them to knock them back. When your shield breaks, use Kinetic Grasp and hide behind cover to give it time to recharge.

Soldier 76

Soldier 76 is the epitome of a nostalgic shooter game protagonist who is just good at what he does. He'll take down flying and grounded enemies alike with precision. Skilled players will make Soldier 76 shine just as brightly as any of the other hitscans.

Widowmaker

If Soldier 76 is a classic shooter hero, Widowmaker is the classic gaming sniper. Her use will largely depend on the map you're playing on, but she'll always be a great pick as long as there are long sightlines and plenty of open space.

C tier Heroes in Overwatch 2 (Season 10)

Mei from the C Tier of the Overwatch 2 character tier list.

Doomfist

Doomfist is great at drawing attention and jumping backlines to attack snipers and supports. He has his moments throughout the changing seasons of Overwatch 2, but he's not as viable for the current meta. I recommend using Winston for dive comps instead.

Hanzo

Hanzo is a hitscan hero whose main utility involves rapid-firing arrows and scanning an area for enemies. While this meta is good for hitscan, Hanzo isn't as useful as some of the other hitscans on this list, leaving him at Tier C.

Junkrat

I think Junkrat is one of the most enjoyable characters to play. His ability to trap enemies and fill spaces with bombs is great for taking out clumped enemies and anyone sneaking around to dive. However, there are a lot of other options to choose from that can do the same. He's still a solid pick that will appear off and on in your games, though.

Mei

Mei has a lot of useful abilities, but she doesn't have the greatest potential for carrying a team. Other DPS heroes can take out enemies quicker with more utility for the team.

Mercy

Mercy can heal comrades, boost their damage, and even revive fallen allies. While her abilities are useful, they just aren’t on the same level as some of the other supports. This is reinforced by the prevalence of hitscan heroes that can easily take her out while in the air.

Sombra

Sombra is a common pick in the lower tiers of the game, but not one that I consider either very bad or very good. I've found her to be the most useful as a counter-swap against teams running Tracer, Moira, or a similar character. She is easily taken out on her own, so starting as her may lead to an early swap.

Symmetra

It's very difficult to get value out of Symettra. More often than not, opponents will notice the turrets she deploys and shoot them down. The same goes for her teleporter. Her wall provides some good utility, but you'll really have to work in order to build it up.

Torbjörn

Torbjörn goes back and forth, depending on the nerfs and buffs that he and other heroes get. While he's always a decent choice, you can do much better by selecting other heroes. That's mainly because he doesn't do much in average team composition if enemies can take out his turrets.

Wrecking Ball

There are Wrecking Ball players that can really show off with this character. For the most part, however, the other tanks in the game are better choices for Season 10.

D tier Characters in Overwatch 2 (Season 10)

Reaper

Reaper is known as a tank killer among the Overwatch DPS characters, especially when it comes to Winston. However, most DPS heroes can accomplish this in Season 10 while having other special abilities. This leaves Reaper on the sidelines in favor of damage heroes with more useful kits.
