How does the Teamfight Tactics rank system work?

The Teamfight Tactics rank system works similar to games such as League of Legends and Rainbow Six Siege, whereas players rank over a series of tiers. However, in Teamfight Tactics, players work and rank up over nine tiers, with various sub-levels in between each rank. There are also a total of four levels you will need to level up through to proceed to the next rank.

Here are all nine ranks in Teamfight Tactics listed below.

  • Iron
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Masters
  • GrandMasters
  • Challenger

To rank up, players earn points through matches, and if they earn a total of 100 LP, they will get bumped up to the next level. You can also earn this LP by finishing in one of the top four slots in a match. The higher you rank, the more LP you gain. Because of this, it's more important to survive and do well in matches so you can rank high as possible to earn the most LP in a match.

You can also play with your friends of any rank up until gold. At that point, they will need to be the same rank as you in order to play in matches with you. Check the chart above the folks at Riot made to figure out which rank can play with who.
