For Total War: Warhammer 3 Crashes on startup
The first thing you should do is check the game’s system requirements. If you’re toward the low end of the requirements, you’re going to struggle with the game no matter what, and crashes are the least of your worries. But there are still a few things you can do.
If you’re on Steam, verify the game file integrity. To do this, open Steam and navigate to your Library. Right-click on Total War: Warhammer 3 in your library, and select Properties. In the Local Files section, select Verify Integrity of local files.
If you’re on Game Pass, you can also attempt to update the Game Pass application. To do this, head to the Windows Store and download the latest version.
Finally, you should double-check all of your video drivers, DirectX versions, and other elements related to the GPU. Head to your GPU manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. Make sure all your drivers are up to date with the latest versions before launching the game.
For Total War: Warhammer 3 Crashes In-game
Once you’re in-game, to prevent crashes, make sure you’re running the settings recommended for your computer. If you’re still experiencing crashes, attempt to lower the graphical settings even lower.
Even on Low, not all settings are set to the lowest value. You can tweak them until you find more stable settings.
The game will also run more stabily when it’s Windowed (for some players). This is especially true if you are frequently Alt-tabbing. Additionally, making sure that unnecessary programs aren’t running in the background. This will free up memory for Total War: Warhammer 3, making it run smoother and avoid crashes.
