Valorant developer Riot Games introduces several new content updates every few months to keep its player base engaged. While the updates are exciting for players, the update procedure is not an enjoyable experience due to its long install times. Many Valorant players assume that the slow installation rate may be due to a server bandwidth issue as many players try to get the latest patch on their system at once. While this is partially true, there is another reason that Valorant updates so slowly.
Why does the Valorant client slow down while installing?
According to various Valorant pundits in the community, the Valorant client system often slows down in download speed during installation because it downloads the required files in small batches. So, when you see 0.1 Kbps on your screen, the Riot client is unpacking and installing the newly downloaded batch to your drive. It will resume downloading to full speed after installing the pack. This switch of downloading at full speed and pausing every few minutes causes an illusion in the mind of players that the client is downloading the game very slowly.
How to speed up the Valorant installation process?
You can speed up the installation procedure by upgrading your internet speeds and/or installing an SSD. High-Speed Internet will download the files quickly, and the SSD will help you install files faster.
