Factions

There are 11 factions in Hero's Hour, and while each functions primarily the same, there are some key differences. We recommend picking one or two factions and playing those until you better understand their intricacies. Each faction has different units, unique structures, special heroes, and more.

Learning each faction's strengths and weaknesses will take some time, so we recommend starting with Order. This faction is fairly basic and easy to learn compared to other factions. But ultimately, choose the one that appeals to you!

Heroes

Heroes are one of the most important aspects of Hero's Hour. These units will lead your armies and move them across the map. They also have various skills, abilities, and spells to help you in combat. You start with a single hero but recruit more in your town's tavern.

We recommend recruiting a second hero quickly. Once you have a second, decide which will be your primary aggressor and have the other play a support role by collecting resources and scouting. Recruiting heroes expands your army, and many have abilities that aid outside of combat as well.

Combat

Combat is one of the main and trickiest parts of Hero's Hour. When you hover your cursor over an enemy, their strength will be displayed. We recommend only attacking weak or moderate enemies and conserving your forces as much as possible.

Skirmish is a great way to learn combat and practice your skills. Even the smallest losses to your army can determine whether you will be victorious or defeated. Spend time learning the ins and outs of combat while the battles are easier and put what you learn into practice in the endgame.

Resources

There are many different resources in the game, but two should be a priority. Gold is one of the most important resources in the game as it is used to recruit units and build up your towns. Secondly, each faction has one or two resources that they specialize in to build buildings or recruit units.

These are some of the most important resources, but you should collect any resource you find. Multiple heroes come in handy here as they can explore to find resources or claim resource-generating buildings in the overworld.

Building

Your town is your hub and the most crucial part of Hero's Hour. If all your towns are captured, you are eliminated from the game. So if you know an enemy is lurking nearby, keep your armies stationed here and be ready to defend your town.

The town's main purpose is to build structures, recruit units, and hire heroes. Buildings increase the types and number of troops you can hire and give other benefits. There are many structures to build, but you should prioritize building the Infirmary quickly as it can restore some of your fallen units.

Artifacts

These are items you can equip your heroes with. They affect their stats and give them different bonuses depending on the artifact. Each hero can only equip one artifact in a slot, so make sure that you are not carrying around one that a different hero can use.

Some artifacts come in sets and will grant additional bonuses when you collect all the pieces. Collecting artifacts while exploring in Hero's Hour is a good way to give your heroes an edge over your opponents.
