How to get Double Jump in Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania that combines tight platforming and brutal combat with a beautiful atmosphere and aesthetic. One thing that players love in platformers is the ability to double jump. This may leave you wondering how to get a double jump in Hollow Knight.

To gain the ability to double jump, you need to acquire the Monarch Wings. This item will give you a lustrous pair of ethereal wings and allow you to jump once again in the air. Without this item, you must rely on Nail Bouncing off enemies or wall jumping with the Mantis Claw to gain additional height.

You can find the Monarch Wings in the Ancient Basin at the far-left side. You must defeat the Broken Vessel and have the Crystal Heart to get this item and unlock the Double Jump ability. With this item, you can reach new heights and areas that were previously inaccessible to you.

Where to go after getting Double Jump in Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight has a fairly free-level design that, when combined with the fact you do not need the Monarch Wings to beat the game, means you do not necessarily have a clear path after gaining this item. The best thing to do after gaining the Double Jump is to return to areas you could not access before.

That being said, there are some specific areas that you should go to once you acquire the Monarch Wings. These are the Palace Grounds, Fungal Core, and the Enraged Guardian's room. You should also return to the Forgotten Crossroads, which will now be the Infected Crossroads. Other regions to explore with this new ability are Crystal Peak, City of Tears, Fog Canyon, Deepnest, Queen's Garden, and Kingdom's Edge.
