How to Use the Set Time Command in Minecraft

Need to quickly get rid of the undead? Set the time to day!

The /time set command in Minecraft allows the user to change the time of their world to a specific part of the Minecraft day cycle. It can be changed to specific keyword times or to Minecraft ticks (fractions of a second) of the day cycle. The guide below explains how to use it.

Java

There are two options for syntax in Java. They are as follows:

  • #1: /time set <TimeSpec>
    • Example: /time set day
    • Result: Sets the time to the start of the day in the Minecraft day cycle.
  • #2: /time set <time>
    • Example: /time set .5d
    • Result: Sets the time to 12000 ticks (half of a Minecraft day cycle).
    • Example: /time set 10000
    • Result: Sets the time to 10000 ticks of a Minecraft day cycle.

Arguments

  • <TimeSpec>: Keyword arguments with preset definitions for time. Must be set to day, night, midnight, or noon.
  • <time>: Manually entered part of the Minecraft day that allows for better customization of setting the time. Must be set according to the 24000 tick Minecraft day cycle. Has optional additional arguments.
    • <d>: A full Minecraft day.
    • <s>: A real-world second (20 game ticks).

Bedrock
