How to beat Tatsugiri + Dondozo the False Dragon Titan in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Kingambit and Tinkaton are great counters for this!

The Dragon Titan of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is recommended to be the final Titan that players fight. It requires the ability to swim and jump high, both of which can be unlocked through battling the other Titans in the game. It is highly recommended to be at least level 55 before taking on this part of the story, but can be done even at lower levels with the right Type match-up. This is everything players need to know about the Dragon Titan in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

How to beat the False Dragon Titan Pokemon Tatsugiri & Dondozo in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Before fighting the Dragon Titan of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, they will need to find it first. By this point in the game, players should have already unlocked the ability to swim by defeating the previous Titans. By interacting with the Tatsugiri on the Southernmost edge of the island, Dondozo will appear and fight. Once the fight is over, it will then retreat to another location where players will then have to travel to and interact with the Tatsugiri again. The fight is divided into three sections, with Dondozo being the first part.

Dondozo is a Pure Water Type Pokémon and uses the Dragon Type move Order Up to deal damage while raising its Attack stat. This is a unique mechanic that normally only appears in Double Battles when both Dondozo and Tatsugiri are on the field due to Tatsugiri's Ability Commander. This would give Dondozo an increase to all of its Stats by two stages. It is weak to Grass and Electric Type moves and doesn't have any moves that can effectively hit Steel Type Pokémon. Players will fight Dondozo twice and then have a third round with Tatsugiri alone.

Tatsugiri is a Dragon/Water Type, weak to Dragon and Fairy attacks. It has a relatively high Special Attack and can boost it further with Nasty Plot. Players should try to attack it with Physical moves as it can use Mirror Coat to reflect the damage of a Special move back with double the damage. It knows Dragon Pulse as well, making Steel Types another effective counter to this battle.

If players haven't already, they should have wrapped up the Victory Road storyline. For help with this, check out How to beat Gym Leader Grusha in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet on Pro Game Guides.
