How to clear the fog in the Valheim Mistlands Biome

I can't see anything!

The Mistlands biome is one of the most challenging areas to explore in Valheim because of a unique factor regarding the biome. In short, it's hard to see when exploring the Mistlands because of all the purple Fog that blocks about one foot around your character. However, most players don't know that you can remove the purple Fog. Here's everything we learned about permanently removing the Mist in the Valheim Mistlands biome.

How to clear Mist in the Valheim Mistlands Biome

To clear the Fog/Mist in Mistlands biomes in Valheim, you must craft a Wisp Fountain to get a Wisp. Here's how to get a Wisp and make a Wisp Fountain below:

  • How to make a Wisp Fountain - To make a Wisp Fountain, you need to get a Torn Spirit from the Yagluth boss and ten stones. When you get the resources, you can place a Wisp Fountain by using a hammer tool.
  • How to get a Wisp - After making a Wisp Fountain, you can get a Wisp by placing the Fountain down and waiting for nightfall. At night, wisps will float around the Fountain that you can pick up by pressing the E key on them.

After you get a Wisp, you can use it to craft either Wisp Torches or Wisplights that can clear Mist in the Mistlands biome. Both items work great to clear the Fog in the Mistlands, but each works differently and requires different resource amounts to craft. Here's how both items work in Valheim and how they can clear Fog in the Mistlands biome:

  • How to clear Fog with a Wisp Torch - You can use a Wisp Torch to clear Mist/Fog in the Mistlands by placing it down on the ground. Placing the Wisp Torch will only clear Fog on the ground level. To clear Mistlands Fog in higher locations, you must build structures and place the torches on top. To place a Wisp Torch on the ground, use a hammer and select Wisp Torches under the Misc. Items tab.
  • How to clear Fog with a Wisplight - If you equip it onto your hot bar, you can clear Fog in the Mistlands using a Wisplight. Equipping the Wisplight will cause a tiny Wisp to follow you around, clearing nearby Fog. However, Wisplights only temporarily remove the Fog, so you'll need Wisp Torches if you want to remove Fog permanently

How to craft a Wisplight in Valheim

To craft a Wisplight in Valheim, you need one Silver and one Wisp. You can get the Silver you need by mining and using Wishbone obtained from Bonemass in the Mountain Biome. Once you get the resources, you can craft your new Wisplight in Valheim inside a workbench. After you craft the Wisplight, you can equip it like most items by left-clicking with the mouse.

How to craft a Wisp Torch in Valheim

To craft a Wisp Torch in Valheim, you need one Yggdrasil wood alongside one Wisp per torch. You can find Yggdrasil wood in the Mistlands biome and can get it by chopping down Yggdrasil Shoots. After you get enough resources, we recommend using torches to clear a path to unique locations in the Mistlands biome.
