Minecraft Ancient Cities are rare, elusive structures that contain many hidden structures, plenty of Sculk, and the terrifying Warden. After exploring tons of seeds and uncovering numerous Ancient Cities, I've come up with this list of the best Ancient City seeds in both Java and Bedrock editions.

If you're a spelunker with a wild side, you'll enjoy uncovering every one of these Ancient Cities! Whichever you decide to enter, make sure you're prepared to face the Warden on his own turf.

Ravine City

A Plains Village resides on both a Mountain Meadow and a Snowy Mountain in this seed. By exploring the snowy area of the mountain, a ravine leading deep into it can be discovered. Following the path on the right side of this ravine leads players to an Ancient City. If that's not enough, a second Ancient City can be discovered within a snowy mountain to the south.

Glowberry City

This Ancient City is a bit of a trip from Spawn, but it's well worth the time taken. It's at the center of a large Lush Cave biome. The Lush Cave's glowberries hang down from the ceiling, while parts of the floor have moss and clay. If you want to transform an Ancient City using the materials from a Lush Cave, this seed makes the process easy as pie.

Four Savanna Cities

What's better than one Ancient City near Spawn? Four Ancient Cities near Spawn! This Savanna contains four cities, one of them within a Dripstone Cave. You'll have no trouble digging into one even without the coordinates. There are two Savanna Villages above ground for those who want to gear up before heading into the earth.

Ancient Tunnels

This Ancient City is surrounded by tunnels and offshoots of caves. It's as if those living in it created multiple paths for resource gathering and maybe even escaping the Warden. It's impossible to tell how many made it out, but the many unfinished paths tell the stories of those who didn't. As you come down to the city from surface, make sure to mark your path to avoid their fate.

Revealed Ruins

While this seed has five Ancient Cities scattered around the mountains near Spawn, there is one that stands above the rest. This giant city is located in an open-air Dripstone cave. The edges of the city can be seen from the cave's entrance and a mineshaft lies in the upper half of the cavern. Players will even be able to find a Plains Village containing a Blacksmith near the cavern's entrance! While the other cities on the seed are great as they are, this is the one that you'll remember for ages to come.

This Ancient City has dripstone hanging from the ceiling like teeth from a giant monster. On the way down to the city, a mineshaft and a Stronghold are available to explore. The two structures combined, so some pieces of the stronghold are missing, with the missing spaces leading to different areas of the mineshaft.

14 Cities within 1,500 blocks

If you want to experience Ancient Cities in more than one way, this seed is for you. There is a 1,500 x 1,500 block area near Spawn that is filled with them. While none are close enough to merge, tunnels could easily be built between all of them. Creative players could enjoy rebuilding the cities and constructing tunnels to act as highways beneath them in order to create one giant country beneath the Overworld.

There is also a mineshaft that juts out of the cavern wall surrounding the Ancient City, which implies that the city's residents were miners. Additionally, Trail Ruins containing relics of another society can be found near the world's beginning.

Slice of the Earth

At the base of this snowy mountain, a sliver has been taken out of the earth, revealing a deep cavern. At the surface, I initially only saw the remnants of a Lush Cave. Venturing inward, however, reveals first a mineshaft and then a large Deep Dark biome with an Ancient City! It's a straight shot down to the Ancient City from the top of the cavern—this makes it possible for players to dig up more of the earth in order to reveal the Ancient City to everyone living above ground.

Best Minecraft Bedrock Ancient City Seeds

For players on Bedrock/Windows 1.19 edition, you may need to turn on Wild Update Experiments in the Options menu to make sure an Ancient City is generated. Some of these seeds were generated with the Wild Update Experiments option activated.

Seven Cities

If you're a Bedrock player wanting multiple cities near Spawn, look no further than this seed. It contains seven Ancient Cities in a 1,000-block radius of your starting point. There aren't a lot of elements differentiating these cities, but they're each packed with treasure and lots of Sculk.

You can visit each city while traveling across the land toward the ocean. Two of these cities have Dripstone deposits, while the rest stick to Sculk and the structures in the city themselves.

Many Mountain Cities

The first seven are within about 1,000 blocks, with the final one being on a more distant mountain range. The fourth of these cities is the most exciting because it is located right next to a lava lake. Take your time exploring all of them and uncovering what the Ancient City truly has to offer.

While this tunnel looks unassuming at first glance, it actually leads directly to an Ancient City! It begins as a Dripstone tunnel, which you'll need to tread through carefully. Once you've successfully passed through the Dripstone, you'll be able to traverse a Deep Dark tunnel that drops into the Ancient City.

Skulk City

The massive Skulk City of this seed was created from the combination of two Ancient Cities! That means double the treasure, double the danger, and, of course, double the Skulk. A mineshaft can be found tucked away in one of the city's corners. If you want to take your time experiencing everything there is in an Ancient City, Skulk City is the seed for you.

Two Mountain Cities

The two cities closest to spawn are hidden beneath snowy mountains in this world. While visiting the first, you'll be able to explore a large cavern containing a zombie spawner! It's the perfect place to set up an easy experience farm so that you can enchant weapons and armor in order to take on the Ancient City. Once the first city is looted, the second can be found in the mountain to the east.

This Mountain is well worth the trek due to the numerous Ancient Cities beneath it. If you want to prepare yourself before jumping in, there are a few villages and a Pillager Outpost in the Badlands Desert near Spawn. If you want to jump straight into the cities, head towards them while gathering wood and food and dive on in.
